The European Medicines Agency is an agency of the European Union in charge of the evaluation and supervision of medicinal products.

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) is a decentralised agency of the European Union (EU) responsible for the scientific evaluation, supervision and safety monitoring of medicines in the EU. Its intention is to harmonise (but not replace) the work of existing national medicine regulatory bodies. It coordinates the evaluation and monitoring of centrally authorised products and national referrals, develops technical guidance and provides scientific advice to sponsors. Its scope of operations is medicinal products for human and veterinary use including biologics and advanced therapies, and herbal medicinal products.
